10 must-see musical movies
Having one of those do-nothing days? Time for you to increase your musical culture!
You don’t have to go to Broadway to see a good musical. Over time, great directors have adapted musicals and created masterpieces for us to enjoy in the big screen. You only need a tv and some popcorn.
Here´s a list of my 10 must- see musicals: Have you seen them all?

1. The Sound of Music: In my opinion this is the musical of musicals. It is a beautiful story of a
novice trying to find her way in life, based on the real-life story of the Von Trapp Family singers. It is situated in the times preceding World War II. A fun fact is that it was filmed in Austria, which means that not only has beautiful music, but also beautiful settings and views. And the best part is that it is appropriate for all ages.

2. Grease: The classic high school drama. Tells the story of Danny, a leather jacket boy and Sandy, a
sweet girl. They had a summer romance, but what happens happen when they meet again? Two different worlds collide.

3. The Phantom of the Opera: Worldwide known. Evidently, as the title says, tells the story about
a phantom in an opera, who falls in love with a singer. Is it really a phantom? Will he get the girl? Must see to find out.

4. Anastasia: Animated but worthy film. Tells the story of the lost Romanov
princess Anastasia. Mixing music and fantasy in the best way, plus, it is the newest Broadway musical, so you must see it.

5. Annie: There are many versions of this classic movie, but in my
opinion the Disney one is the most unknown and the best. It tells the classic story of little red-head orphan Annie, who firmly believes that her parents will eventually come and get her. Her life changes when Oliver Warbucks takes her in, in his mansion.

6. Mamma Mia: Firstly, seen on Broadway, with the wonderful music of the
group ABBA. Here´s the story of a single mother whose child, Sophie, is getting married. Sophie explores her mother´s past to find her father for him to assist to her wedding. Funny, romantic and thrilling.

7. Les Misérables: One of the old time´s favorites. If you love history, this is the musical for you. It is an adaptation from the classic book written by Victor Hugo, full of deep messages. It follows the story of Jean Valjean, who has been unfairly imprisoned for years, and shows you the turns and twists of his old and new life. Full of drama, romance and action.

8. Lalaland: This one is of my favorite movies for the realness of it. It mixes
fiction with reality, classics with originals, making it simply unique. The music in the movie is simple but beautiful. It follows the story of two dreamers and how they both cope with life, Sebastian, a Jazz lover and Mia, an aspiring actress.

9. The Greatest Showman: Nearly newbie in the musical world, the greatest showman will become a classic. One of the masterpieces of the century, containing the beautiful story of P.T. Barnum´s life and the creation of his famous circus. My favorite thing about this movie is that it mixes modern music with the 1850’s (year where the story is set).

big screen. With the acting of Emma Watson and Dan Stevens. Highlight of the movie: The music and the props.
