e-books vs paper books

I've loved reading for as long as I can remember and I get my hands on a book any chance I get.

With today's technology conquering a world of paper, reading is available on tablets, laptops, cell phones and even on kindles. Basically, you can read on anything that has a screen.

All of this brings us to a very good question… is reading digitally better than the old-fashioned print?

Keep reading to know both the good and the bad about the two!

storage space

It is a well known fact that books take up space, especially the hardcover ones and we can only have so much space on our bookshelves to fit them all. On the other hand, a kindle makes this issue not be a problem anymore because you basically can hold a whole bookstore in your hand!

lightning issues

To read a paper book you forcefully need light. However, this problem gets solved easily with the built-in light available in kindles, cellphones and other electronic devices.

***If you use a kindle and this is a crucial point to you be sure to check their technical specifications: not all models include the built-in light feature.

the experience

Have you ever gone into a bookstore, took a very thick book and picked up that new-book, ink-and-paper scent while you skimmed through the pages? Well, I doubt you'll enjoy the smell of your e-book.

battery life

Although electronic devices seem pretty cool they have a very important downside: battery life. If you forget to charge your device and it runs out of battery, it’s dead (and so are you because you won’t be able to read your book). A good paper book will never let you down this way.

buying books

Browsing a bookstore for new material to get your hands on is always something to look forward to but when you do not have the time or your local bookstore does not have the book you are looking for, it is time to buy online. This seems like a pretty reasonable option, except for the fact that deliveries can be slow.

On a kindle, for example, nothing will test your patience: you browse for the book of your choice and with a single click your book is ready to be enjoyed in just a matter of seconds.

travelling

Long trips either by road or plane can be really boring if you don't have anything to do. Reading is a great way to pass the time and in this case I would highly recommend taking a kindle with you to travel light and with many reading options to choose from.

These are just a few from many other reasons that debate which way of reading is the best. I think both are great and have many upsides (as well as downsides) but in the end it's just a matter of opinion and preference of each person as to which is better.

So what do you guys think? E-books or paper books?
