5 Essential tips for runners

Running is one of my favorite things to do, it helps you be in shape, be healthy and it liberates you from stress. It doesn’t matter what age you have, at any moment of your life you can start practicing it. I started practicing it formally like 2 years ago, running short distances like 3 to 5 kilometers trying to finish them with a better time than the last time, but this year I want to achieve something bigger, a 21-kilometer race. If you are interested in start running you are in the right place, here are a few tips.

1. Willpower and Dedication

When you start running you need to know that you’ll be in a constant fight with your body and your brain, your body will be telling you to give up but your brain needs to be the one stop it. You’ll need to be strong to achieve your personal goal.

2. Start small

Wanting to run a marathon is a big goal that many want to accomplish, but if you are starting from cero you can’t just start running 5km on your first day of training. The first days run during 15-20 minutes, the next ones 1-3 km, and then you’ll be able to run longer distances, you’ll gain condition. For this you need to be very persistent and patient.

3. Stretch and cool down

Every time, no matter how much you’re going to run, never forget to stretch before starting and cool down when you’re done. Doing this is very important because it prepares your muscles for the hard work you’re going to do and prevents you from injuries

4. Good running shoes

Choose a running shoe that is comfortable and lightweight. In my personal opinion is better to make a high inversion in them because it adapts to your feet better, doesn’t cause you problems and last longer. There are many types of tennis shoes, so if you think there’s no one that goes with you, don’t worry there’ll be.

5. Have a group

Running with a group is an excellent way to motivate you. You don’t always have to train with them but once in while is very good because that way you’ll be sharing and receiving experiences, you can share goals with others.

Hope this helps you. Keep it basic.
