5 basic tips to improve your diet

Has it ever happened to you that in attempts to lose weight or simply eat cleaner you lose track and end up binging on your favorite food? Here are 5 basic tips to help you stay on track and get the best out of you.

Tip #1. Eat the right amount food.

Sometimes, when we try a new diet or make a change in it we end up under-eating (or the opposite) because we don't really know how to eat properly. My advice to you is to balance all your meals (protein, carbohydrates, and fats) and make sure you feel energetic throughout the day.

Tip #2. Eat the right food.

It might be weird how junk food is way cheaper than healthy food and it might seem as an unattractive thing to spend your money on food; however, I recommend you to see it as an investment in your health and in your life as there is a direct relation between food and mortal diseases. Instead of buying that bag of chips or that muffin, opt for a healthier choice such as a bowl of fresh fruits or something of that sort.

Tip #3. Avoid juices, smoothies or fruit bowls (açai bowls).

We all looove açai bowls, juices, and smoothies, but breaking it down, how much food does a smoothie or a juice or an açai bowl have? Say you're gonna drink a berry smoothie that has a whole banana, a cup of berries, a third of a cup of almonds and a cup of almond milk, don't you think it will be more fulling to eat them separately instead of mixed? The thing is that when we eat food that is blended or mixed we don't really see how much food we are eating and the amount of it that we're ingesting. The same thing goes to juices, how much oranges does it take to make a single cup of orange juice? Wouldn't it be better to eat the oranges as you'll get satisfied quicker? Think about it, how much food are you ingesting when you order those eggs and bacon followed by an orange juice?

Tip #4. Eat 5 times a day.

The best thing you can do to yourself is to eat small portions of food 5 times a day instead of big portions of food 3 times a day; not only will you get less hungry, but you'll see that you'll have more energy if you follow this tip.

Tip #5. Of course, drink water.

We've mentioned this on a previous blog, but this one is an essential. It is very important to drink 2L of water everyday because our body will work properly and we will feel well. If you don't enjoy drinking just water, add lemon to it so it has a taste (if you prefer fruit, you can do so).

These are 5 tips that have helped me have a healthier lifestyle; I'm not saying these will work for everyone because we all are different, but these tips have been useful to me and I think they're worth sharing. Have a nice day!!

Always basic,
